Firstly Javed Raza is not a new director and he has been around a few years mostly making B or C grade movies.

This time around he has found a overseas Pakistani from Canada to finance his film. The film's shooting has already started and its called "Kabhi Pyar Na Karna".

The cast includes Zara shiekh and Momi. One thing for sure Javed Raza has chosen a good team for his film.

Music was done by the late Amjad Bobby and script has been written by Khalil-ur-Rahmen Qamar.

Here is one serious lady who wants to release her film on the given date and no messing about.

Mubbashar Luqman and yoyo are you listening !

Yoyo, I wish I could believe you but what do expect when he makes all these silly statements against other directors of the industry.

Getting to back to the music then honestly if it was good then it would have touched my heart the first time i heard it, which it has not and I am not the only one.

Would it not had been better if he had asked a Pakistan music director to compose the music instead of asking the Indians to do everything.

Agree with Charizmatic rather pathetic music. One got to hear some of the music through the trailor before. Just of couple of songs are decent.

Yoyo, it is true Mubasshar luqman is the nephew of Foreign Minister Kasuri, so does have conections and can get things done but helping Reema and others is a joke.

Getting back to his film I do have my doubts of it being as hit the box office because of its poor music and with the poor music goes away the initial excitement.

Everything depends now on the story and direction.

Film industry divisions surface

The meeting of 19-member film industry delegation with the Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was highly successful in that the government has shown its resolve to help revive the declining industry. The delegates held a press conference at Plaza Cinema on Wednesday to express their gratitude to the government for its cooperation. The event, however, showed that there are deep divisions in the film industry.

Chairman Pakistan Film Producers Association Mian Amjad Farzand flanked by Ghulam Mohyuddin, Reema, Resham, Mubasher Lucman, Aslam Dar, Kh Pervaiz, Shan, Saud and Jehanzeb Baig briefed the press about the meeting with PM. Shahzad Gul was also present. From time to time these film personalities spoke about the dissenters in the film industry. The film exhibitors are reportedly not happy after the meeting as the PM had flatly refused to consider their demand to allow exhibition of Indian films. Jehanzeb, who is also the owner of Plaza Cinema, was the only exhibitor present.

Super star Shan, who was not part of the delegation, dominated the proceedings with his straight talk and reservations about the plan to revive the film industry. He stressed on creating a second line of people in the industry. "We must secure the future. What is the use of bringing in new equipment or upgrading the studios when you do not have the skilled people to use them. India did this many years ago. We too should send our people abroad for training.

"We must send at least 15 people for training to India. If we will not do this India will continue to take away our best acting talent and bring down our industry. We have to clear our vision first that is what we have do and what should be the priorities," he said.

Shan said that a number of people in the industry were angry on being ignored by Mian Amjad. "I am ready to build bridges and arrange meeting with them. We must be united in the task of rebuilding the industry," he said. Mian Amjad accepted his offer to play the role of a mediator. Ghulam Mohyuddin sharing his views had said that those who did not want to join them in the task of industry revival could do whatever they wanted to do.
He said that he was ready to make six movies with Shan as hero provided he came to shootings on time. Shan accepted the offer and said he would act in only his films in 2006.

Kh Pervaiz had remarked that Shan was too busy to meet the prime minister. Shan later talking about it said that he has been in the industry for 15 years. "My family has also contributed a lot to this industry. You feel hurt when you are left out," Shan said.

Earlier Amjad speaking about the meeting said that GST and all taxes on import of equipment would be waived. "Only five percent custom duty will be imposed," he said.

A source said that last year only 35 Punjabi and Urdu films were made in Lollywood whereas 45 Pushto films were produced. Pushto film personalities including producer Gul Akbar Afridi were not invited to become part of the delegation or join the team for revival of industry. Chairman Movie Artistes Association of Pakistan Yousaf Khan, producers led by Sohail Butt, noted film directors Syed Noor and Altaf Hussain, actress Saima and Babar Ali are also not part of Mian Amjad's team.

Look Reema only started shooting for her film last June and is planning it to release it in August which is just over a year. Reema might have been working on her film for the last 3 years but the time from shooting to release it's just over a year.

Where as Mubassar Luqman started the shooting of PPP around March 2003.

True Golimoro2 Javed Sheikh is just wasting his time in Bollywood. He promised that his film KAKN will be released in August early this year. What a pathetic joke.

Well, couple of years ago we also had another very confident director by the name of Fahim Burney. He thought he had made the best ever Pakistani film.

On a serious note and what I have seen of the promos the film does look promising.

Honeynrrn I could not agree with you more about Reema. I also loved her Nikkah and especially in Mujhey Chand Chahiye. She only had one song in that film but it was brilliantly picturised.

One thing you have not mentioned that she is a great dancer and just watch her when the film Kohi tujh Sa Kahan comes out.

The above are all posters of Pushto films which were famous for all the above in the 1980s and 1990s. Currently they have cleaned their act up and are making decent films.

Both are brilliant directors but they need good producers or financers. All of them have dissapeared from the film industry.

People are scared to invest because of the uncertaintly of the box office but are willing to invest in TV dramas because the return is guaranteed.

It is more of business thing then any love for the performing arts. This is our biggest problem as everything is weighted with profit and loss. Where the money is everyone goes. This is the reason why every Tom,Dick and Harry is making a Drama.

No wonder the standard of our dramas has fallen and everyone is watching Indian soaps in Pakistan.

Golimoro2 you have made a valid point. The fact is from the early 1980s our industry has gone downhill.

The major reasons being the martial law regime of Zia who after taking over in 1977 created alot of problems and uncertainty for filmmakers which meant that educated and talented filmmakers started leaving the film industry.

At the same time films like Maula Jat and Sher Khan and other Punjabi films became big hits and everyone started making these films and suddenly uneducated filmmakers and producers started taking over the film industry.

Another thing which did not help was the invasion of the VCR and Indian films and we hardly had any film makers to fight with Indian films and basically people from the upper and middle class families started watching these films.

It was during this time the standard of Cinema halls started detiorating and was the end of Cinema culture.

Still directors like Nazrul Islam, Pervez Malik, S. Suleman, Nazar Shabab and Javed Fazil kept this industry alive in the 1980s but since these directors it has been downhill because just have not been able to get new people in the industry.

If they come forward we surely have the talent to make better movies then Bollywood.

Standard it looks like that you have not read what I have wrote properly and in turn you have contridicted yourself.

As I have said before YDAKH was a fine film on the basis of technical and production quality and you yourself agree that the on the basis of scripting, music and direction a number of other good films have been made in the last ten years and you have even mentioned 3 films.

You go to say that before YDAKH Lollywood filmmaking was crap. You make me laugh and you are trying to say that our film Industry in the last 50 years or so has just produced rubbish.

This is the same Industry that until the mid 1980s was competing with the Indians and in fact the Indians copied all the quality Urdu films from the 1980s.

Over the last ten years majority of all the Urdu films that have done well at the box office people from all walks of life have seen these films.

No doubt the publicity of YDAKH was very good but it was the TV channels which hyped the film more.

Your last point that the so called burger families also came to see YDAKH really does not bother me. They have never liked Pakistani films and even if tomorrow our industry starts producing the best films in the world they will still finds faults.

They are totally obsessed with everything Indian and have a huge inferior complex. They don't even like being called Pakistani because its a insult ot them.

Standard why do you keep on mentioning YDAKH every time. The fact is in the last ten years a number other very good films have been made. Except of technical, production quality and music I did not find anything special in YDAKH.

I agree Karachi is way ahead of any other city of Pakistan in everything.

Everything depends on the director and heriones are basically following the instructions of the director.

In the past nearly all the heriones have come from the Punjab but they have not done any valgar scenes.

Reema shows off new find Simran

Super star Reema is making her debut as director. Her film 'Koi tujh sa kahan' is in dubbing stage of postproduction. On Thursday she introduced UK-based model Simran, one of the female leads of her film, to the media in Lahore.

Reema speaking on the occasion said that the film industry was going through a crisis and to help end it she decided to take the responsibility of making a quality movie. "I am also the producer of this film. I have copied Bollywood and Hollywood but only in the style of work. My film is in no way copy of any other movie. I went into even the minor details to ensure that it is a good quality flick.

"The paperwork took 18 months to complete. I have used modern equipment, which has been used for the first time for a Pakistani film. The music was recorded in India while the choreographer was also from Bollywood. I got the best talent for my film from different places," Reema said She said that she decided to take Simran as heroine of the film because she was disappointed with the local talent. "I dropped model Sophia Mirza because of her attitude problem. The shooting of my film was delayed for one year because of her," she said. Simran is making her silver screen debut in 'Koi tujh sa kahan'. She has the distinction of working with MTV and Channel V as a host. She said that she met Reema three years ago and working with her had been a wonderful experience. "I have learnt a lot from her. I would like to work in more Pakistani films," she said.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar, who has written the script, spoke about the hard work that he had done to come up with a new story.

Director Sangeeta came in under a lot of criticism for presenting low standard productions. She defended her work by saying that it was due to the commercial demands of film producers.
